A few weeks back we kicked off the festive season with a post on Christmas decor ideas. That post had a list of 20 really easy ways to decorate your home for Christmas, and if you haven’t read it yet, click here because you must! One of the ways we spoke about in that post was candles. I think candles is the easiest of all 20 easy ideas, because many of us already use candles as part of our decor. We might have a few on a side table or as the centre piece in our dining area. So today we have 5 Christmas candle decor ideas for you which will help turn your regular candles into Christmas decor quite easily. Here goes…

5 Simple Christmas Candle Decor Ideas For YouChristmas Candle Decor Ideas:

The first one was the most complicated of all 5 (so you can imagine how easy the rest are!) and also the most satisfying. Reason? You search for Christmas decor ideas anywhere and you have pics full of pine cones and pine needles. Very disappointing coz both aren’t that easily available here. I mean, I look out into my balcony and I see potted palms, not Christmas trees. It’s much easier to find palm in our gardens, terraces and balconies than Christmas trees. So I decided that I’m going to do use palm leaves somewhere in my Christmas decor… and here’s what I got.

(1) Christmas Candle Decor With Palm Leaves:

For this one, I used a large glass vase and some palm leaves I cut from my balcony.

I held the leaf so that the top was just above the top of the vase.

I put 1 Fevicol Glue Drop at the base of the vase and another where the stem ends and stuck the palm on to the vase.

Then I put Fevicol along the length of each leaf and stuck it on to the glass.

I started from the top and worked my way down to the bottom. Some of the leaves wouldn’t stick immediately with the Fevicol. I rolled a bit of cello tape and stuck it behind the leaf along with the Fevicol to help those stick.

Once all the leaves were stuck, I cut off the extra palm along the base of the vase.

Once I’d stuck 1 entire leaf, I repeated the same steps for 2 more, so that I covered the entire vase.

Then I chopped off the tops of the leaves that were sticking out above the vase.

This looked too neat and even, so I randomly cut off some of the leaves in the middle to make little gaps so that it looks more natural.

I placed a candle in the vase, scattered some pine cones around it, and my pretty Christmas candle centre piece is ready!

(2) Let’s Go Red:

This one was far easier to do. I used one of my wooden trays and some red candles. The green ribbon has been stuck around the candle using Fevicol Glue Drops. (You’d think Fevicol pays me for promoting the stuff, but it’s honestly so easy to use. Whenever I’m stuck about sticking, I turn to them and they’ve never failed me yet! It’s a must have in a crafting kit.)

I placed the candles in the centre of the tray. I’ve even included the brass tea light holder which I would normally associate with Diwali, not Christmas. But it fell into place perfectly with the red and gold theme.

And I added all the red and gold Christmas ornaments I had all around it.

Light up the candles, and you have another beautiful Christmas centre piece ready.

Because it’s in a tray, it’s also very easy to move around to wherever you are entertaining.

(3) Christmas Candle Decor With Fake Pine Needles:

Okay.. so I did get influenced with all the Google-d images too. Pine needles are everywhere and they look beautiful. Like I said, I don’t have a Christmas tree, so I went and got my self some fake pine-needle-look-alike leaves.

I cut each leaf separately and brushed it lightly with white paint to give it that snowy look.

I had a thick rope and wanted some twine, so I separated the rope into 2 parts to make thinner twine out of it.

Then I took the plain white candles…

.. tied the twine around them, and stuck the painted pine needles under the rope.

In this case, the leaves were much longer than the candle, so I cut them level with the base.

And then shaped the leaves at an angle so that they were not flat out horizontal at the bottom..

It looked something like this.

Then I placed all 3 candles in an earthenware tray.

(4) Floating Christmas Candles:

When I was looking for the fake pine-needle-kind-of-leaves, I also found these Christmas berries.

5 Simple Christmas Candle Decor Ideas For You

I chopped them up into separate berries and separate leaves.

Throw them all into a glass…

Thanks so much Reeti! So glad you liked them.
The glassware, plates, trays are all my own which I regularly use at home. I like to use everyday stuff in the DIYs.. the idea being that you can pick up things from around the house and use them in different ways. And at the end of the season they go back to being used in the home. Nothing gets wasted. The Christmas decorations and the craft supplies I’ve picked up from local stationery and crafting stores. Another fave place I like to shop for all these extra knick-knacks is Crawford Market. If there’s anything specific you’re wondering about please ask.. I’ll let you know.
