It’s mood board time again.. and this one is another request. Today I have a Farmhouse Bedroom for you, in three different ways.

There is ‘Naturally Neutral’ if you like a soft, serene space. ‘Breezy Blues’ are just right for you if blue happens to be your favourite colour. And if you like it stronger and more spirited, then ‘Bold with Black’ is perfect!

Farmhouse Bedroom

Farmhouse Bedroom – 3 Ways

So what is farmhouse style anyways? It would obviously be something that reminds you of a farmhouse!

And what comes to mind when you think ‘farmhouse’? I would think rustic, warm and practical décor. Wood in rough, weathered finishes, wrought iron, slatted wood and mixed-and-matched vintage furniture. Simple stripes and checks in neutral colours, ceramic knobs and brass tacks and furnishings in soft cotton.

Depending on the client’s preference, these are the different ways in which I would put together a farmhouse bedroom.

Naturally Neutral

As you can see from the pic below, this one is all about natural wood finishes and colours. Softer whites are far more natural to come by. So I would go with off whites, ivories, greys and beiges rather than crisp, pure whites.

Farmhouse Bedroom

1 – Wooden Rope Lamp – This basic wood and rope lamp manages to add just the right amount of quirkiness, while still sticking to the rustic and simple farmhouse style.

2 – Red Barn View – Love how these two pieces of art manage to add a dash of colour to brighten up the otherwise neutral farmhouse bedroom.

3 – Farmhouse at Kammer – Just like the rest of this bedroom, this artwork too is rough and earthy while warming up the space.

4 – Devan Table Clock – This wood and metal clock would be a great addition to any of our three farmhouse bedrooms here.

5 – Madelra Wall Mirror – Love how the visible wood grains give this mirror a natural, homey finish.

6 – 6 Drawer Console – The ceramic drawer knobs added to the distressed finish is the kind of detail that makes my heart sing. Isn’t this an appropriate addition to a farmhouse bedroom?

7 – Nexus Queen Bed – Solid and practical, with the cross back on the headboard giving just the right bit of style to our bedroom.

8 – Aloha Night Stand – The louvers add detail to the side tables which contrast well against the simplicity of the bed.

9 – Hemmo Bench – A seating bench that works as a storage box with four drawers and can also be used to keep a tray of food. That’s the kind of practical furniture that works well with the farmhouse style.

10 – Handwoven Kite Dhurrie – Once again, it’s the simplicity of design and colours that made me pick this one. The ‘kite’ running across the length of the dhurrie is cleverly done. It also adds a touch of form to this almost plain rug.

11 – Pravara Floor Lamp – An elementary shape with a basic leaf motif, hand carved along it’s stem.. love the humble design of this one.

12 – Barcelona Chair – It was the vintage print, linen upholstery that first caught my eye here. The gentle curves of the leg and back seem to work perfectly too.

13 – Drum End Table – Reclaimed wood, distressed paint and uncomplicated lines make this solid piece of furniture a good fit.

14 – Heddamaria – Made of undyed and unbleached hemp and cotton, this cushion cover has a natural look and feel to it.

15 – Illisha Cushion Cover – Another simple piece in cotton where the texture is what shines through.

16 – Deepali Cushion Cover – The beautiful weave and natural colours had me rooting for this one.

17 – Zalfa Bedcover – Natural, cotton stripes with a simple pattern woven into them makes it easy to mix and match cushions with this one.

Breezy Blues

The farmhouse style isn’t about loud, bright colours. So I’ve kept most of the mood board neutral even in this collection. The blues squirm into the space as accessories in either deep or pastel shades, neither of which are blingy.

Farmhouse Bedroom

1 – Turquoise Pendant Lamp – A handsome piece that easily adds rusticity, along with that bit of blue, to this room.

2 – Cotton Bouquet I – The artwork says ‘farmhouse’ loud and clear, and the muted greyish blue tones are just perfect.

3 – Cotton Bouquet II – And this one makes an excellent partner to the one above.

4 – Audwik Table Lamp – The crackle effect gives this piece a vintage charm of it’s own. And isn’t that a soft, pretty blue for this room?

5 – Rope Wrapped Round Mirror – We saw rope in the bedside sconces in our neutral room and we see it in the mirror in this one. Rope is a great texture to add to a farmhouse space.

6 – Raoul Study Table – The distressed finish, that lovely grey and those ceramic drawer knobs. Love this piece!

7 – Bayview Bed – The louvered headboard is what had me pick this one. It’s a detail I would expect to see in a farmhouse or country styled space.

8 – Malloy Night Stand – The pull handle and the exposed rivets add the rustic details to this otherwise modern design.

9 – Stocksund Bench – Another practical piece which allows for storage within along with the seating. The checkered pattern is ideal for the farmhouse look.

10 – Conon Rug – The easy geometric pattern and textured finish are what I thought worked well in this rug.

11 – Addison Accent Chair – The large, solid shape, rustic design and exposed nail heads make this all farmhouse.

12 – Ashburn Side Table – The intricate brass handles on the rough, distressed side table make for an interesting contrast and lend a vintage vibe to this pretty piece. The bluish grey body is an added bonus.

13 – Sia Lumber Cushion – The blanket stitch around the edges and the rugged running stitch across the body make this fit well into our farmhouse bedroom.

14 – Enakshi Cotton Cover – Another piece with rows of running stitch right across it’s width. Love how it ties in with the cushion above.

15 – Sia Cushion Cover – This one uses simple cross stitches across the body to create this beautiful pattern.

16 – Jagvi Bedcover – Once again, a simple, woven, blueish grey stripe makes a good base to add deeper blue cushions to make our blue farmhouse bedroom.

Going Bold With Black

Ignore the blacks and this farmhouse bedroom is quite similar to our first one, the all neutral. But notice how the blacks contrast with the neturals to give a bolder look to this bedroom? If bold is how you like it, then this one is for you.

Farmhouse Bedroom

1 – Arch Hanging Lamp – This metal and cane pendant is a stunner and brings bold and beautiful to the bedroom instantly.

2 – Marshall I – A landscape would be great to fill in the length of wall we have between the headboard and top bar of the four-poster. This sepia toned artwork with the blacks is quite the right fit for our natural and black farmhouse bedroom.

3 – Chloe Canopy Bed – The matt finish wrought iron structure with the extremely simple headboard makes this four-poster perfect for this room.

4 – Round Black Mirror – The gold detail on the inner edge of the black frame ties in so beautifully with the colour scheme of this bedroom.

5 – Marbella Sideboard – The rustic finish with just the right hint of design on this sideboard had me swooning.

6 – Caspia Rug – It’s black and gold again, against a cotton and hemp, off white background. How ideal is this rug here?

7 – Sheraton Bench – A simple wooden bench, made bold with the black cushion on top. The open shelf is great to store extra blankets and cushions. Don’t miss the brass tacks running around the edge.

8 – Bookman Night Stand – A solid, natural wood piece with the vintage style black handles adding just the right touch to our farmhouse look.

9 – Illusion Cushion Cover – Delicate black and white checks with a twist.

10 – Kristianne Cushion Cover – Dark grey and white pin stripes, and that beautiful button detail.

11 – Mettalise Cushion Cover – Bolder black stripes against a white background on this lumbar cushion.

12 – Indira Bedspread – This white bedspread with large textured checks running across it make it possible to use all the black and white cushions in various geometric patterns that we selected for this room.

13 – Albi Side Table – A vintage copper finish to this one is like a pop of surprise against all that black and white. And yet the copper adds another beautiful earth tone which blends in quite well with this room.

14 – Clara Chair – A design very suited to the ‘farmhouse’ look with the added bonus of the black and white stripe.

15 – Rambagh Floor Lamp – This lovely, black floor lamp goes so well with our bed, and with the rest of this room.

.

And there you have it. Beautiful farmhouse bedrooms for you, done in three different ways. I do have a personal favourite among these three, so I am sure you do too. Tell me which is yours in the comments below, and guess which one is mine.

I’ve also done mood boards on the blog before, for Tropical Living Rooms and Moroccan Bedrooms. Click here to see those in case you missed them before.

And send in your requests for the next mood board I should work on.

Until next time,

Great ideas Rittika, I think this is also an awesome opportunity to do some up-cycling. It’s easier to create the distressed look from something that is a bit older!
