Do you remember the tissue paper pom-poms I made last week? Well, those were still hanging prettily above the dining table, when we decided to have a small get together at home with a few friends. And that set the theme for the party automatically . We decided to have an all white summer party.

I looked up the net and asked friends for ideas, and collectively, this is what we came up with. I couldn’t turn my home all white overnight, but these little things emphasized the white quite obviously and made our home look festive for the night. So let me get straight into our all white summer party ideas.

Our All White Summer Party:

A Pretty White Invite:

The mood for any party is always set by the invitation. I had clicked this photograph for the post on Summer Decor. I loved it even then, and really wanted to use it. So I decided to make the invite with it. I often use Canva for my graphics and found this template on their website. I inserted the pic and had a pretty white summer party invite ready in no time.

(Psst… if you like it, put in your email id at the bottom of the post and I’ll mail a blank one to you.)

Flowers on the Dining Table:

Since the pom-poms were floating above the centre of the table in a circle, I decided to do white flowers below them.. also in a circle. I started with a tall vase in the centre into which I stuck some white roses and gerbera. Those mats helped to guide the shape of the arrangement and also give it a base.

I tried a few glasses for size to see at what height I wanted the other flowers and candles.

Six medium sized glasses took care of the ring of flowers around the central vase. Since the stems are all green, the base of the arrangement was looking really dark (like in the pic above) and only the top looked white. I didn’t have anything else last minute, so just wrapped the glasses in plain white paper to make the whole arrangement look more white.

White doilies made the perfect base for the tealights on the smaller glasses. Two-sided tape on the base of the glass had them stuck firmly so that they didn’t slip or fly off. I finally scattered a ring of mogra around the arrangement… all white and such a pretty fragrance.

I actually got this pic quietly in the middle of the party (the reason that one tealight is off!). Someone turned the lights down and the table looked so, so pretty.

White Balloons in the Living Room:

I got this beautiful idea from a friend. We released almost a hundred helium balloons around our living room. Their long white ribbon tails floating around gave the whole place such a dreamy look.

We also had photographs of our friends printed. Each one of them wrote a message on the back of their photo and tied it to a balloon. So we also had these photos with messages floating around the room. You could grab a photo and read the message as it passed you by! 🙂

Here’s a small tip if you want to try this out. We used large 5″ x 7″ photographs, which were quite heavy. So a single balloon couldn’t hold the weight of one. We had to tie 3 to 4 balloons to a single photo to have it floating around. Next time around I’ll probably use small, postcard size photographs which will not be so heavy.

A Little More Pretty White Summer Decor:

We made this delicate light and flower curtain against one wall. I tied little white flowers at small intervals to a thin nylon thread, and stuck each thread on the ceiling with cello tape. Then I wove some LED string lights through the flowers, and this was the result. I floated some balloons behind the flowers to add a little more white to this corner.

For a centrepiece, I floated some more mogra in an urli along with a floating candle.

Takeaway Gifts To Decorate The Entrance:

I found this lovely golden pothos plant on Nurturing Green. Earth Day was celebrated this weekend and we have anyway been talking about going green and doing our little bit for the environment. The fact that the plants came in simple white pots was icing on the cake… I knew I had the perfect takeaway gifts for my friends!

I placed the plants all around the Buddha at the entrance and they completely looked a part of the decor. No one realised they were the takeaways till they were actually leaving, at which time it was very convenient to pick and gift them to our friends on their way out.

So that was our little all white summer party for you. Our living room was not all white, but we had a lot of floaty, dreamy, glittery white stuff all around which at least made you stop for a second and take another look. And of course, when everyone walked in in their whites… then our living room DID look all white!

Most of this decor was not difficult to do. It did take a little time and patience, though. And it was totally worth the effort. Let me know if you try any of this at home. You can obviously use all these decor ideas in other other colour too! And share your own white summer party ideas with us in the comments.. I’m an idea hoarder and I’ll save them for next time!

Remember to put in your email id below and I’ll send you a blank WhatsApp summer party invite. You can add your text to it and customise it for your party.

And since you can’t do anything about the heat.. and it’s not becoming any less even if you complain.. you might as well celebrate it…

Let’s celebrate summer!
