It’s been months since I revealed a new project here and I have been so, SO missing it. For me, the most exciting part of closing a project is the happy smiles on the clients’ faces when they see their home all complete. A very close second, is the excitement I feel knowing that I’ll be sharing the pretty pictures and spaces with you. And so, I am thrilled to begin a new journey, through this beautiful home with the entrance and foyer of Keje.

‘Keje’ means radiant beauty.

When I first walked into this home, the flat was completely bare, with cement slab ceilings and floors and plastered walls. Scroll down to the before and after section to see what it looked like then.

Yet, with it’s eleven foot high ceilings, large, full sized windows and open, airy rooms, I could imagine in my mind’s eye, how grand this home would turn out to be.

Stop and take a look at it now. With its glistening Italian marble, shimmering chandeliers, magnificent arches and sparkling stained glass windows, this home is as glorious and radiant as I imagined it would be.

This home is awe-inspiring and amicable, all at once. Step inside to see what I mean.

The Plan

The foyer is as small and cute as the entrance lobby is large and wide. The unusual feature here is the corner window. We decided to highlight it and make it the focus of this foyer.

So we placed an L shaped console table below that window along with a built in, tall shoe storage next to it.

That’s all the space we had. But that’s all the space we needed. As you will see, our teeny-tiny, self sufficient foyer, looks anything but teeny-tiny.

The Entrance

The lift in the lobby opens right in front of the main door of this home. This is quite literally the first thing you see as you step out of the lift.

Thanks to the lofty ceilings, we decided to use arches across the home. The main door was a great place to start. And so the layers of arches in different colours and materials, starting from the black polished edge on the door going up to the outermost black marble arch.

We spent a while figuring out what to do with the grill. Until our searches brought up a pic of this artwork. It was love at first sight. We love how this highlighted the arches again, and decided to use this artwork as inspiration for the main door grill.

The large entrance wall was clad with marble for a luxurious finish, with the wooden panel below adding texture and warmth.

The lift lobby has a sizeable window, lighting it up brightly during the day. We added concealed lighting along the wooden panel and door arch to have the lobby looking radiant at night too.

The Foyer

As you step into the lobby, you catch a glimpse of another arched opening that leads into the main home.

And then you see the stunning stained glass window that makes you stop in your tracks.

We ran the same arch across the two windows put together. In keeping with the black, white and gold used here, the stained glass was done only in different textures and beveled glass, without adding any other colour to it. We also have a concealed light strip behind the window, thanks to which the window lights up the room at night too.

As we had planned, this window is definitely the show stopper of this room.

This delicate chandelier in the centre of the room adds to the glamour and the striking first impression you have of this home as you enter it.

The foyer console is custom made on site, and we used the design of the main door grill on the legs of this piece too.

It fits lightly under the corner window. And fits neatly into the space between the open door in the front and the shoe cabinet on the left. A pouf slides in under it. It’s a convenient place to sit and wear or remove your shoes.

This pic is one of my favourite of the foyer. I love how the three arches, of the door, window and entryway, all come together here so beautifully.

It’s a view of the foyer from the living room, which also gives you a glimpse of the living room itself… which I can’t wait to share that with you next week!

In the mean while, let’s get to my favourite part.

Before and Afters

Here are a few before and afters of the entrance and foyer of Keje.

The main entrance of this home.

We brought the door forward a few inches to bring it in line with the wall, and arched it to go with all the arches inside the home.

The lift lobby wall.

Was paneled with marble and wood give it a ritzy vibe, with the concealed lighting adding to the radiance.

The first glimpse into the home.

We arched the entryway and window and fit the shoe cabinet in the corner.

The corner window, which caught my eye the very first time I walked into this home.

The arch, stained glass, the L shaped console below and the glittering chandelier on top. All of these seem to centre around that window and make it the hero of this foyer.

That’s the entrance and foyer of Keje for you. I hope the first glimpse of this home has you intrigued and waiting for more. Because I can’t wait to bring more to you.

But before that, I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments on what you’ve seen today.. and what you think the rest of this home will be like.

The living room is coming up next week, so remember to sign up here so you get an instant update.

Until next time,
