It’s time to introduce what is going to be the cutest room of our White & Light Home. Today we have all the plans of our pink and lavender room for the little angel of the family.

Most little girls I know have one favourite colour. This angel has two, so the colour scheme was decided even before we put pen to paper. We knew we had to have a pink and lavender room for this little girl.

The Plan:

We had a large, empty slate to start with. Like all the bedrooms of this home, this one too is good sized with large windows running across almost an entire wall. That we’re not putting a bed in it makes it even more spacious and a perfect playground for a little girl. Let me show this to you in the plan.

As you can see, we have a really long, 3 foot wide window ledge with a comfortable mattress. The plan is to have that double up as a bed.

We add wardrobes, a study table and a crafting table, and it still leaves most of the room empty and free for play… every child’s dream come true!

The Window Wall:

The first thing you see as soon as you enter the room are those beautiful, big windows.

The mattress on the ledge is going to be her bed, her cozy sitting corner and her window seat to read by, all in one.

Since no one needs a 9 foot long bed, we thought it would be a great idea to add some book shelves on both sides of that ledge, which will also give our little girl her private library, by her bed near her window seat. This sounds like a dream even to me!

Loads of cushions to rest on, roman blinds on the windows and a pretty drape to frame it sounds wholly girly and fun.

The Study Wall:

To the left of the window is where we plan to place the study table.

Our little girl loves drawing and crafting, so we’ve planned a whole lot of storage for her to be able to keep all her crafting material. We’re planning a study table in the center with storage on either side. A large soft board above it will be great to display all her art work.

A combination of closed storage and cubbies like the pic below will keep the messy stuff out of sight while giving her space to keep her everyday essentials easily accessable.

Wardrobe Wall:

Along the entrance door is the most obvious place for the wardrobes.

White seems like the best bet for wardrobe colour. Not only will it go perfectly with the colours of our pink and lavender room, but will go with any colour if our little girl’s favourite colour changes as she grows older.

If you look at the plan carefully, you’ll see that the section of wardrobe right next to the wall has been crossed out. On the other side of this wall is the living room.

We have blocked the lower section of that wardrobe from the bedroom so that it opens into the living room. The wine cooler slides into this section from the living room side, to make a bar.

The Crafting Table Wall:

That leaves the fourth wall. It is another big blank beauty to do what we like with.

We’re giving her two comfortable chairs to sit on with a table in between, somewhat like the pic below.

We decided to use a much bigger table though, since our little girl likes artwork and crafting. This way she can sit with a friend, spread all her drawing material and have a fun, crafting play date.

A Pink And Lavender Room:

Which brings us back to the colour scheme. Our little girl loved this picture, so to start off we found her this exact same wallpaper.

I think too much of any colour can be overpowering. What I love about this wallpaper is the greyish, neutral tone of the lavender. It gives a hint of the colour without overdoing it.

The white, too, gives a neutral base on which the coloured accents stand out to make a pretty pink and lavender room.
