I launched the hashtag #RittikaLookAtThis more than a year back on Instagram. It was the easiest way I could think of for all of you to be able to share your images directly with me. At that time I asked you to share your desi styled pics for our post on ‘Indian Decor Ideas – How To Style The Desi Way‘. I promised to share my 3 fave pics there and you can click on the post to see which ones we shared.

The next time we all used #RittikaLookAtThis was on Earth Day last year. We shared all the little things we do to in our own way to protect the environment. Thanks to this hashtag, we had a pool of great ideas we could all use in our daily lives to save Mother Earth.

I asked you to keep sharing your pics with me using this hashtag and I tried to post my fave pic every week on my Instagram stories. It was all a little vague though. Since I wasn’t asking you to post anything in particular, I didn’t have any basis for choosing the pic-of-the-week. I was just going with my gut. Whenever I got a feeling that I had to share a pic with all of you, I did.

Over time I saw a pattern to where my gut was leading me. I was moved every time you picked an idea from my projects or DIY and used it yourself, and I had to share those. And then there were times when one of your ideas made me think, ‘I must try this!’. I just had to share those too.

And that is how this came about.

#RittikaLookAtThis

That is where this hashtag is at today. A means of inspiring and being inspired by each other.

So here today, are some of my fave pics that have been shared on this hashtag over the last year. Some that have taken inspiration from our work and others that have given us some food for thought.

Decor Ideas Inspired By Our Work

Nothing in the world feels better than appreciation. It’s one thing to look at something and go, ‘Wow! That’s cool’. It’s another to like it so much that you want to replicate some of it yourself.

It’s totally amazing when you go and share it back with the person who inspired you and are willing to share some of the credit with them. It takes a big heart to do that and so a huge THANK YOU to all of you who shared these pics with me. You have no idea how happy it made me to see them then… and no idea of the high I get every single time I go through them.

Entrance Decor

We wrote a post to reveal my foyer quite a while back. I have also been sharing pics from the foyer regularly on my Instagram account.

Imagine how surprised and thrilled I was to receive a DM from Pratibha of @meow8828 sharing the pic below. She said she was inspired to use this Buddha statue at her entrance after seeing ours. Seeing this pic still makes me smile… every time!

Balcony Ceiling Grill

This balcony has been a favourite with readers since the day we revealed it on the blog. A lot of thought went into the little things that make it what it is. For example, the grill on the ceiling. After tossing about many alternatives in my head as to how I’m going to be able hang plants and lights wherever I feel like it, I finally decided on this grill.

So it made me really happy that Kalpita of @kalpitajadhav found the idea wonderful too. She’s on her way to a jungalicious, green balcony and I’m as excited as her about it!

Kitchen Wall

Remember our breakfast counter from Krishna’s Greige Kitchen? It has been well loved by all of you.

Krishna's Greige Kitchen Reveal

It was particularly well loved by one of our readers, who sent me this image, saying she was inspired to make those stripes after seeing our kitchen!

DIY Festive Glass Lanterns

Then there was this Diwali DIY where we used old glass jars to make pretty lanterns for tea-lights.

Diwali DIY - How To Paint Festive Glass Lanterns

I absolutely loved how pretty Prasanna of @prasannameruva ‘s lanterns turned out.

DIY Christmas Garland

Just before Christmas, I wrote about how I decorated a Christmas garland at our entrance.

I was so excited when Josh of @williamsjoshu2012 sent me this pic saying it was inspired by the garland decoration above.

DIY Cushion Covers From Old T-Shirts

Last, but not the least. This has been the biggest hit of all our DIYs. More of you have tried and tagged me on #RittikaLookAtThis with your gorgeous cushion covers than any other single idea, ever.

Do you remember this DIY where we turned old t-shirts into cushion covers without any stitching at all?

Here are some of the amazing pics I got from you after you tried this DIY yourself.

Subh of @subhhzz made one in a gorgeous maroon which she decorated with simple geometrics.

Decor Ideas That Make Us Go ‘Wow’!

There are loads and loads of pics shared with us on #RittikaLookAtThis that are ideas we simply love. It isn’t possible to share every one of them though, so am sharing my fave 3, which totally blew me away.

DIY Wallpaper

When I first saw this pic by Mamta of @thecreativeaficionado I thought that gorgeous blue and gold was wallpaper. It was only after I read her post that I realised she has used a wall stencil to paint this herself.

Here is a pulled back view so you can see the entire niche. What I love about it is that it is easy enough to be tried by most people, yet with stunning effect.

DIY Beachy Wall Panel

I loved this room the minute I saw this pic, but was completely blown away when I realised the wall was a DIY. In Rashmi of @ruskathome ‘s own words, ‘It took us the whole day to stain, paint, distress etc the timber before stapling them on!!’

What I love about this one? That I would never, ever have the courage to take on a DIY like this on my own… but Rashmi did.. and boy, did she nail it! (pun intended 🙂 )

DIY Painted Pots

A touch of white on these pots. That’s all that Krittika of @willowandlovehome needed to turn this simple earthenware into designer planters. Again, what I love about this is its sheer simplicity.. and dazzling result.

.

Which brings us to the end of our #RittikaLookAtThis inspiration for this post. I haven’t been as regular posting my weekly faves as I should, and I am going to make sure I don’t miss many this year.

In the mean while, whenever you are looking for decor inspiration, just click at that hashtag. I promise you, you’ll find some amazing ideas there.

Also, if you are ever even slightly inspired by any of our design, or have some decor ideas you’d want to share with me, remember to tag your pics with #RittikaLookAtThis.

Looking forward to another year of inspiring and being inspired!

Until next time,
