I went to The Sassy Spoon at Nariman Point some time back, to celebrate a cousin’s birthday. We wanted to go to a ‘new’ place… Somewhere we had not been to before. We had also heard a lot of good things about the restaurant and the food, so Sassy Spoon it was. I went there expecting a great ambiance and delicious food. What was an unexpected, pleasant surprise, was their stunning suitcase wall.
As you enter the restaurant, on your left, is a large wall almost entirely lined with suitcases, trunks and other luggage. We all stopped as we entered, for a second, just absorbing the scene. And at the end, I just had to stay back a while and take some pictures of the fabulous suitcase decor.
I love the collection of these vintage pieces of luggage. And a lot of thought must have gone into placing them. All the different shapes and sizes fitting together beautifully to form a neat grid. Pssst… there is also a washroom door very well hidden among all those suitcases!
I was going through old photographs recently, when I happened to find the suitcase wall photos… and it got me thinking as to how I could use this at home. I certainly wouldn’t want a wall full of suitcases in my room… it’s a bit much for a home I think. If you search online, you will find about a kazillion different suitcase decor ideas.
Of all, the following are easy to put together yourself, very practical and usable, and easily my favourite…
Just stack them up, one on top of the other, and you have a cool bedside table!
Storage Below Your Bed:
Just slide in your old suitcases or trunks under your bed. It’s a simple, attractive and inexpensive way to add extra storage in your bedroom!
Fill up your suitcase with your favourite plants and make your own little garden indoors!
Let me know if any of these works for you… or if you have any ideas of your own.
Also, if you do go to The Sassy Spoon, have the ‘7 Textured Hazelnut and Chocolate’… it’s delicious!
Until next time,
