Our White & Light Home is ready and done, and we’re looking forward to bringing you all it’s beautiful, completed spaces, one at a time. First up, today, is our pretty pastel bedroom reveal.

Pretty Pastel Bedroom Reveal

If you have read our introductory post to this room, you will remember that this is the parents’ bedroom.

I have often seen the design plans of a room change as work progresses. It sometimes happens because of some unforeseen situation on site. For example a wall you’re planning to shift ends up being a column. More often, it’s because of a change of heart. Any interior work takes a few months to complete. Sometimes the client will see a new design or product while work is going on and want to incorporate that into the design. Then we have to change plans midway.

This pastel bedroom, though, barely changed at all from conception to delivery. We all loved the initial plan and stuck with it to the end. And after seeing the result, I’m glad we did!

The Pretty Pastel Bedroom Reveal:

So let me finally show you our pretty pastel bedroom reveal. Here is our plan.

A Pretty Pastel Bedroom For The Parents

As you enter, the first thing on your left, just adjacent to the bathroom door, are the wardrobes. So let me start with those..

The Wardrobe Wall:

This room is slightly different from the others in the home, in that it has a warmer, more traditional feel to it. The parents’ wanted a simple look with soft colours, something they have been used to. So we didn’t go over the top with anything in this room. We kept it simple.

The entrance door and wardrobe all fall in one line visually. They didn’t want the entire wall to look like a large, solid block of wood, so we broke down the wood with the vertical panels in grey.

The grey goes with the black door frame, which we have in the whole home, without being as harsh as the black. It is also a good neutral to go along with the pastel colours.

The Bed Wall:

Adjacent to the wardrobe wall, and to it’s right, we have our bed. That pretty wallpaper panel turned out just as we had planned it, and is the starting point of the pastel bedroom colours.

I spoke about how the panel breaks down the large, plain wall behind the bed in our introductory post. It also has another advantage.

We have a large study table on one side of the bed,

and a really small side table on the other side.

This asymmetry is less apparent because of the panel. It creates a strong visual symmetry behind the bed, so you don’t notice the stark difference in sizes on either side immediately.

The study table fits in almost perfectly into the little space between the bed and the window.

The Window Wall:

The windows are the first thing you see as you enter the room, so we had to make them attractive. They bring in so much beautiful light into the room, and came with a window seat along the entire length of the wall.

The light, though beautiful, can sometimes be too harsh in a bedroom. Imagine a wall full of blazing, noon time sunlight in the summer when you’re looking to rest with a book. Or any light at all if you’re looking for an afternoon nap.

We have blinds with blackout lining to help with the nap. We also have a layer of sheers to soften the light without cutting it our altogether for the rest of the day.

And then we have a whole lot of pretty cushions to make that seating comfortable and cozy.

We’ve picked up the colours of our wallpaper and used them all over our window wall, from the drapes to the cushions. I think our windows set the tone of this room and give it it’s light, soft charm.

The TV Wall:

Adjacent to our windows, and opposite our bed is our television. Since the space between the bed and wall isn’t much, we have chosen a slim unit.

Pretty Pastel Bedroom Reveal

We chose this black framed look on the wood to give a touch of contemporary to the traditional warm vibe of the wood.

Our entrance door to the room has a black frame to it’s wooden surface, as do all the doors of the home. This unit, along with the bedside table, also help to tie that in to this room.

The little planter and artwork help complete the look here. We thought these pretty, pastel florals from Cyahi went perfectly with the rest of this room.

Finally, we added a runner carpet along the length of this passage. I love the pretty peach and green on this too.

Right next to the TV unit is the small mandir. A full length mirror fits in behind the bedroom door and right in front of the bathroom, making it very convenient to use.

This brings us right back to the entrance, and the end of our pastel bedroom reveal.

Before & Afters:

Which brings us to the best part.. the before and afters.

The big blank wall alongside the entrance…

… is where we put in our wardrobes.

Our bed wall was extra long, which gave us enough place to put in our furniture, but could have been monotonous.

We broke it up with that wallpaper panel. It balances the asymmetrical furniture on either side of the bed and gives this room its colours.

After

These large windows are a dream come true in any space.

Before

We decided to make them dreamy with these pretty curtains and cushions. They also play further on the peaches and greens of the wallpaper and make this room a pastel paradise.

After

This blank wall in front of the bed was the perfect place to fit in a television.

We added the pretty artwork to go with the soft, pretty vibes of this room.

After

Which brings us to the end of our pretty pastel bedroom reveal. We stuck to our original plans for this room and managed to fit in everything the clients wanted. I think we also added dollops of charm along the way.
